Unit Mission
ELLIS Alicante is a non-profit research foundation committed to advancing ethical and responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the greater good. Its mission is to conduct world-class research exploring the relationship between humans and AI, with the goal of creating positive societal impact.

Research Agenda
ELLIS Alicante research is structured around three key areas:
- AI that Understands Us: Modeling human behavior using AI techniques at both individual and collective levels to improve lives and address societal challenges.
- AI that Interacts with Us: Developing intelligent, interactive systems, such as smartphones, personal assistants, and chatbots, to enhance human-computer interactions.
- AI that We Trust: Addressing ethical challenges in AI, including algorithmic discrimination, privacy violations, opacity, and manipulation, to ensure AI systems are trustworthy and human-centric.
By focusing on these areas, ELLIS Alicante aims to be a leading research lab on ethical, responsible, and human-centered AI, contributing to technological innovation and creating positive social and economic impact.
